How to clean chimney

Cleaning the kitchen is a time-consuming task, mostly when you are dealing with your kitchen chimney and microwave oven. In our Indian kitchens most of the food is made with lots of oil and spices. The smoke and steam produced from cooking makes the chimney filters and stove area greasy and sticky. The chimney should be cleaned twice or at least once in a month, this will make the chimney more effective and also looks good.

How to clean mesh and baffle filters in natural ways

For cleaning the chimney filters, first of all remove the filters from the hood. Mesh filters are aluminum thread made sheets. You can clean your filters in many different ways. Using chemicals, harsh soap or detergents will discolor the aluminum material. It’s better to clean in a natural way. I feel baffle filters are easier to clean than the mesh filters. Here we will discuss the all possible natural ways.

Clean chimney with dishwashing liquid

Firstly apply some dishwashing liquid (ex: Vim Lemon Dish wash Gel) to the filters. Take hot boiling water into a bucket or tub anything in which can immerse your filters and clean it. Be sure that the filters are completely immersed in the water. Now leave it for 1 to 2 hours. If you have a steel container in which you can immerse the filters then better to boil it for half an hour. Boiling will effectively, fastly removes grease than immersing in hot water. After removing it from water scrub it with non-abrasive scrubber like ‘Scotch-Brite Non Scratch Sponge

Clean chimney with paint thinner

Paint thinner is also a good choice to clean the oily and greasy materials. This is a quick option to clean your chimney filters as they don’t need too much time. Just soak a small piece of cloth in the thinner and scrub it on the filters. After cleaning the filters completely, wash it with water and dry it in the sunlight.

Keep the hinged doors closed, when not in use and latch the tower bolts. This will ensure the door stays aligned and avoids door opening on its own, when the wardrobe is kept on uneven surface
Remember to use the 2-door sliding wardrobe as per retailer’s recommendations. Both LH & RH doors are opened and closed on one side respectively. Do not try to exchange the door position, since the sliding hardware is not meant to function in a wrong way.
Always seek professional carpenter’s assistance during dismantling and reassembling the furniture
Whenever you are unable to access the built-in attic of your wardrobe, always use a step stool, instead of climbing the shelves for accessing the higher levels.

Hinges for your Kitchen and Other Cabinets (Soft-Close vs Normal-Close)

While looking for kitchen and other interiors, one of the most important point the home makers, should know is the type of hinges that are to be used and the impact that they would have on the price and the lifetime of the wood work.

The following are the most common types of hinges –

  1. Self-closing or Normal-closing hinges
Normal close hinges are a type of hinges, where the door will close as per the individual self-weight or how fast you close the door. If you close the door hard the door will bang hard on the cabinet and may make banging sound due to which the cabinet or the door may get damaged , hence you need to close it softly by yourself so that the interior is maintained has a better life.
  2. Slow-closing or Soft-closing hinges.
Soft-close is durable and provides a smooth, silent closing motion. The primary benefit is the long-term health of your cabinets. If you close or leave the door hard then also the hinges will close softly hence there is no banging or damage of wood work. When you have kids accessing the cabinets, it is better to go with soft-closing as it acts as a safety feature and protects the fingers.
    Pros:
  • Door closes softly
  • Added safety feature to help / protect the fingers of your children and little ones.
  • Better cabinet life as it avoids slamming.

Basic differences between a gas stove and a hob?

Traditional gas stoves have a freestanding body type while modern hobs have a built-in design. Traditional gas stoves are limited to basic functions such as on and off. On the other hand, modern hobs come with an array of features that make cooking easy. To sum up, hobs are definitely a better choice over gas stoves for modern kitchens

(1) Efficient cooking
Unlike gas stoves, modern hobs sit on the level of your kitchen’s countertop and do not protrude. This built-in design makes it easy for you to load/unload heavy cooking utensils on the cooktop. Modern hobs’ built-in design eases cleaning it too.
When cleaning the countertop, you can simply wipe off food spills and grime from the hob’s cooktop. Also, modern hobs come with auto-ignition feature which automatically lights the burners.
(2) Multiple heat control options
Different recipes require different cooking temperatures. With conventional gas stoves, the range of heat control you get is very limited, making it difficult for you to achieve perfection in a particular recipe’s taste.
Our modern hobs come with multi-flame burners; you can individually control the flame on the interior and exterior ring of the burner to precisely adjust the cooking temperature. Also, burners in our kitchen hobs are long-lasting as they are made from enamel-coated cast iron
(3) Sleek look
Apart from improving functionality in your cooking bay, modern hobs work great for elevating the aesthetics of your kitchen as well. They have a sleek look which lends a contemporary look to your kitchen.
To create a sophisticated look in your kitchen, choose a contemporary-style hob that has a durable glass finish. Our range-topping hobs are available in durable tempered glass finish.
4) High levels of safety
Modern hobs are highly safe to use as compared to traditional gas stoves. Hobs are designed to ensure convenient cooking, they also enhance the looks of your kitchen. Innovative features such as mechanical timers and automatic ignition guarantee safety and ease of control.

What are the advantages of Islands kitchen ?
  • Creating a central hub- for some large kitchens, the units can be quite far apart on each side of the room. Adding a Island Kitchen to the center of the space creates a central hub, that can provide a focal point, as well as a practical space. This will also help to connect both sides of the space, and act as a bridge or link between the two.
  • Easy to reach fixtures- the sink, the oven and the fridge are the three main fixtures in any kitchen. These are used most often when cooking or preparing food, and so easy access to these is essential. With a central Island Kitchen, you should be able to reach these points easily, without anything impeding your space, or acting as a barrier. This creates a practical and functional kitchen space.
  • Add a sink- A Island Kitchen can be designed with a built in sink. This can be either a second kitchen sink, or the only sink in your kitchen. Either way, a sink in the centre of the space can be much more practical than a sink in the corner of your Kitchen. You could also opt for an interesting design, or use of material, to create a striking kitchen feature.

Storage Bed

. What started off as a great hack to save space has now created a niche market for itself. A nicely designed and delicately carved wooden storage bed can make your bedroom decor even more elegant. Scroll down to learn more about designing a great bedroom with a wooden storage bed.

Benefits of a Storage Bed

On the fundamental level, a Storage Bed is designed to save space. But it is more than simply that. The other benefits of storage bed are:

  1. It is a great way to maximise storage space which otherwise would have been wasted by installing a platform bed with no storage facilities.
  2. It saves extra expenditure. For the price of 1, you are effectively getting 2 things – 1 bed and 1 cabinet.
  3. A king-size bed with storage is big enough to store almost all blankets, towels, suitcases, clothing, bedding, etc. of a three member family.
  4. It provides amazing flexibility to open the storage area from the sides or top.
  5. It is most appropriate for smaller rooms where large cabinets or cupboards cannot be installed.
  6. It is relatively easy to clean and requires less maintenance.
  7. There are two types of storage :-
    (A) Cabinet storage
    (B) lift up storage
